TODAY: Open house offerings and tours ‌ 

‌From noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the lobby of McCaffery-Wagman vendors from BARE Blends, 9 Miles East, and KEY Sparkling Water will be offering samples and items for sale. Sign up for tours of the new facility at noon, 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m, meeting in the lobby. ‌ ‌ 

‌Intro to cardio room and weight room equipment ‌ 

‌Strength and conditioning staff will be providing introductions to using the new equipment in the cardio room and weight room throughout the first and second week of opening. Space is limited; sign up online. ‌ ‌ 

Fitness class registration

‌Fitness class registration is now open for the spring semester. All employees are invited to register for classes held in the McCafferey-Wagman Wellness Center beginning Feb. 1. Descriptions of each class are available online, or, sign up for a free group fitness class in the new Group Fitness Studio. Contact Lacey Walsh with questions.

‌The Queer Faculty and Staff Affinity Group (QFSAG), dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and empowering community for all queer-identified staff and faculty, invites employees who identify as LGBTQIA+ to join their mailing list and stay informed about upcoming events and initiatives. 

‌Zankel Music Center celebrates 15 years 

‌The Arthur Zankel Music Center marks 15 years since opening with a season of programming designed to foster connection and understanding. Highlights include the return of the “SURROUND” series, the premiere of “Trill 101,” “Voices of Ukraine,” and the 20th anniversary of the Skidmore String Festival

‌Register for winter soccer intramurals

‌Registration for winter soccer intramurals is open to all faculty, staff, and students. Practice for co-ed varsity soccer will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and co-ed junior varsity soccer practices will be from 7 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both take place in the the intramural gym in the Williamson Sports Center. Register by Thursday, Jan. 23. Contact Elizabeth Ghilardi with questions.‌ 

‌Camp Northwoods registration 

‌Online registration for Camp Northwoods, Skidmore's summer day camp for children, opens for employees at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6. Skidmore community members receive priority and will be sent an email with specific instructions that morning. Camp Northwoods also has staff openings for mature and responsible individuals ages 16 and up. Contact Christine Merrill with questions.

The Writing Center spring semester opening 

‌The Writing Center opens on Monday, Jan. 27, offering help for students at any stage of any writing project seven days a week. Students are invited to schedule an appointment from the Writing Center website or Okta tile. Contact Caitlin Jorgensen with questions.

Skidmore Weekly Bulletin submission procedure and schedule

Help reduce bulk emails by posting your announcement in Skidmore Weekly Bulletin, which is distributed to all students and employees. Submit announcements and eventslectures, panels, and other academic events; and faculty-staff achievements by completing the appropriate online form. The deadline for all submissions is noon on Monday. 

‌Welcome back from the Skidmore Shop 

‌The Skidmore Shop is back to its regular hours — 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday — and is stocked with required course materials and school supplies. Or keep cozy this winter with new Skidmore-branded Sherpa fleeces and snuggies.

‌Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day with men’s ice hockey ‌

‌Friday, Feb. 7, marks the men’s ice hockey’s first Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day; Faculty and Staff are invited to enjoy coffee or hot cocoa at the City of Saratoga Springs Ice Rink, before joining the team in the locker room for a reading of the starting lineup. Admission to the game is free. Those interested in joining the starting lineup reading should meet under the scoreboard at 6:40 p.m. Puck drops at 7 p.m. Email Megan Buchanan with questions.

Men’s and women’s basketball‌

‌The basketball teams are home again this weekend as they play host to Bard and Ithaca in a pair of important Liberty League contests. The women’s games are at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday, while the men will play at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
